Whilst Louis Goosen is always very passionate about racing and his charges, it was uncharacteristic that he would stand back from an interview.
Extremely emotional, Louis dedicated this win to the memory of the late Robert Maroun (father of the owner of Doing It For Dan, Anthony Maroun) and to Anthony’s late brother, Buddy Maroun, who taught Louis so much about training.
Louis also thanks all of the LGRS owners and the LGRS team for a fantastic Season, which yielded 37 winners from the 40 horses in the yard.
Doing It For Dan ended a fine Season in style, for the LGRS team. The son of Windrush won on debut on the final day of the Season over 1000m at Vaal Sand on 31/07/2014.
After losing a few lengths at the start and hesitating in the kickback, Doing It For Dan ran on strongly at the end, to win by the narrowest of margins. He can only improve from this win. Anthony Maroun and his son Kaden, were on course to lead their winner in.
