It's a fact that you can take a horse to water, but you can't make him/her drink. It's also a fact that in order to reach his/her full potential, a horse must want to win. In fact, that's....... the truth!
On Tuesday, 19th February 2013, the diminutive son of Var, De Var Hyt, defied the form books and the weights, to produce a sustained finish over the 1000m trip, in a Progress Plate, after being, what some may say, "A mile out at the weights." Chase Maujean rode a brilliant race, opting not to pace it with the leaders, early on.
Owned by the Soru family, De Var Hyt has now won 4 races, with his only run out of the money being on the sand surface.
De Var Hyt now goes to the Var Gold Rush Sprint over 1100m at Turffontein on Saturday 9th March 2013.
DE VAR HYT......GUTSY AGAIN!
